Shandong Women’s University Hosts Academic Exchange Seminar with Scholars from Vietnam and the United Kingdom

 

Recently, Shandong Women’s University held an international academic exchange meeting, inviting distinguished guests Huong Hoi Anh, Director of the China Institute of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, and Professor Laura Sjoberg, the director of the Department of Politics, International Relations and Philosophy and the director of the Gender Research Institute at Royal Holloway, University of London, UK. The meeting was attended by University President Li Guanghong, Vice President Liu Enyun, as well as representatives from the School of Foreign Languages, the School of Society and Law, the School of Marxism, and the International Exchange and Cooperation Office.

Vice President Liu Enyun of Shandong Women's University provided an overview of the Shandong Women’s University, emphasizing recent progress in international exchanges, gender studies, and think tank development. Various departments and units introduced their unique research areas and sought potential collaboration opportunities.

Huong Hoi Anh presented an overview of the China Research Institute at the Vietnamese Academy of Social Sciences and the research direction, elaborated on the status of Vietnam National University, and proposed establishing and promoting exchange and cooperation relationships between the two universities. She expressed appreciation for the construction of the Shandong Women’s University’s "Belt and Road" Social and Women's Development Center in Russian-speaking Countries along the Route. She expressed her willingness to contribute to the think tank.

Professor Laura Sheberg discussed the history of development, departmental structure, and research focus of the Institutes at Royal Holloway, highlighting the latest achievements and trends in gender studies in the United Kingdom. She noted the growing trend of interdisciplinary research and praised the vibrant development of women's endeavors in China.

Through the symposium, Shandong Women’s University facilitated a comprehensive introduction to the guests, and all parties reached preliminary agreements on academic cooperation and inter-university exchanges, paving the way for the university to expand its international collaborations further.
